Social media looks to play a major part in Jason Reitman‘s “Men, Women & Children,” an adaptation of the 2011 novel by Chad Kultgen.

The first trailer has debuted, and it gives us our first look at the lives of the lives of a group of teens (played by Ansel Elgort, Kaitlyn Dever, Olivia Crocicchia, and Timothée Chalamet) and their dysfunctional parents (played by Adam Sandler, Jennifer Garner, Judy Greer, J.K. Simmons, Dean Norris, and Rosemarie Dewitt) in the modern of age of technology.

The trailer takes a fascinating and unique approach by having absolutely no dialogue. Instead, it relies on the non-verbal dialogue between the characters through social media conversations. Not only does this challenge the actors to convey emotions solely using the expressions on their faces, but it is also honest and sadly realistic depiction of how communication has developed into nowadays. After giving us a big brother tour of the various characters and their dirty little secrets, it ends by presenting us the message: “Discover The Little You Know About The People You Know.”

“Men, Women & Children” will premiere at TIFF next month before its limited release on October 3rd and expanded release on October 17th. Check out the first trailer below.
